Frequently Asked Questions

I am concerned about confidentiality. How do I know that GCS will guard my privacy?
We work in a small industry niche where almost everyone knows everyone. We would not be able to maintain the trust and credibility we have earned if we did not take every possible step to ensure each candidate’s privacy. A candidate’s resume will not be sent to a client unless the candidate has specifically authorized its release to that client.

How long will it take GCS to find me a position or engagement?
Sometimes we can place you in a temporary or consulting position within 24 hours. However, our ability to place you quickly in either a temporary or permanent position is determined by the following factors:

1. client demand in your area of expertise
2. your own clarity about what you want to do
3. location in which you want to work
4. your salary requirements

Temporary positions can normally be filled quite quickly. Long-term and direct placements typically take longer. Generally, the more senior the permanent position you are seeking, the longer the placement process. GCS has a very high placement success rate because our focus is on finding the perfect match of company and candidate. So come prepared to be patient and wait for the right fit.

How does GCS help me find a job?
We succeed when you and our clients are satisfied. We take the time to become thoroughly familiar with your professional background, expertise and requirements. We spend equal time ascertaining the environmental character, job requirements and criteria set forth by our clients. By cross-matching this information with candidates' strengths we seek the best possible employment fit. We have a sincere commitment to making strong, long-lasting matches and have acquired an industry reputation for doing just that. Any information provided to us by candidates or clients is considered confidential.

If I am working with GCS, may I send my resume directly to companies?
Yes, of course. But we ask that you keep us informed so that we do not duplicate each other’s efforts. We will let you know where we intend to send your resume, and you always have the right to decide where you want it sent.

How else can GCS help me?
We can provide you with current industry and market information, review your resume and make suggestions, teach you effective interviewing techniques, provide information about companies that interest you, and guide you to companies that may need someone with your capabilities and requirements.

What professional disciplines do you handle?
GCS occupies a very specific industry niche. We place professionals in the government or commercial contracts, pricing, procurement, program control, business management, finance and accounting disciplines. We recruit people with government and/or private industry background, from entry-level to executive, for direct, temporary, contract-to-hire and consulting positions.

Does GCS offer employment benefits?
Yes, we do. We provide paid leave and retirement plan participation to our long-term temporaries. Call us for more information!

What do you need from me to start the process?
E-mail your resume to us in MS Word format along with a brief description of the position you are seeking. We screen resumes carefully and accept only those applicants we believe we can place. If we think we can assist you, a GCS representative will call you to schedule an interview.

Will GCS help me negotiate salary and benefits?
We will be happy to assist you in this process. We can also make available to you current industry information on salary and benefits.

What is the quality of the market right now?
The Government and contractors are always in need of talented professionals. And, that need has increased. If you are ready to investigate new opportunities, we will explore the right match for you.

I don’t have specific contracts experience but I want to enter the field, do you have any suggestions?
The contracts field requires many specific skills and abilities, e.g., business writing, facilitation, attention to detail, good follow-through, communications skills, and a general interest in compliance and legal matters. A bachelor’s degree is generally required. Most of the positions we source require a minimum of 1 year experience or some educational background in federal government contracting.
